early birthday wish.
April 25, 2012
this morning as i organize my thoughts and to-do lists over a cup of joe and steel cut oats,–does that make me sound like an old lady?–i’ve come to the conclusion that i want to seriously blog.
like, surrrriously.
haha, kind of sounds a bit lame when i actually put it into words. you’re already blogging madison, helllloooooo…
but, what do i mean by this?
well, in lieu of my blog’s first birthday (YAY!)–an adventure i started not exactly knowing where it would go or who i’d meet along the way–i’ve decided i’d like to take it more seriously, for myself and all you lovely & supportive readers and blogging gurus out there.
so what might be madisoncary’s early birthday wish?
more writing.
more inspiration.
more connecting with all you fantastic folks.
and maybe even a little more about me, if you guys really wanna hear it! ;)
so i guess, it’s really just a little bit more of what i’m already doing, but with a more serious focus.
as my blog hopefully grows and i fine-tune it’s purpose, i’d love for you to be a part of it!
readers — what would you like to see more of on madisoncary?
blogging gurus — what advice would you give this young grasshopper?
receiving your honest feedback will better help me in knowing which direction to take as madisoncary grows!
so, talk to me by leaving a comment or sending me a message via my contact page!
i look forward to this exciting future with you!
p.s. stay tuned for a fun birthday surprise you won’t want to miss!

Street Photography- (Yes, 3 free eBooks)

Reblogged from free penny press:
While on Twitter yesterday, this was “tweeted” to me. The person knew about my take-it-to-the-street-poetry gig and thought I would find this photography interesting. Good call Twitter friend.
Thomas Leuthard is a Street photographer from Switzerland. When asked why he gives these books away for free his answer was quite simple. He has a job making enough money and not everyone that wants to learn about photography has that luxury.

First of all, I realized this morning that we were nominated for the Apartment Therapy “The Homies” blog awards in the “Best Home Design Blog” category! Thanks to whoever nominated us – I realize we have no chance against some of those amazing (and regularly updated I might add :) ) blogs like Retro Renovation and Making it Lovely…
award.

what is this strange word, “liebster,” you ask?
i was thinking the same thing not too long ago until i realized i was nominated for the award that holds its name!
what a nice surprise from two fellow bloggers: jamie of ohhcanaduh/growing up nowhere and scott aka artboy68 of 100 portraits!
it’s amazing what a friendly community you may find when you feel as if writing things on a little no-name blog gets lost into the deep abyss of cyberspace!
so, thanks, you two! :)
according to miss ohhcanaduh, “liebster” is derived from a german term meaning, “a close friend.”
and the neat thing about this particular award, as i understand it, is given to a blogger that has fewer than 200 followers.
so, here are the rules:
1. show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.
2. reveal your top 5 picks and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog or sending them a tweet.
3. post the award on your blog.
4. bask in the love from some of the most supportive people on the internet—other writers and artists.
5. and best of all – have fun and spread the karma.
obviously–and without a doubt–the two of you would be in my top 5 picks :)
but since you’ve been nominated, here are mine:
1. http://littlecommas.wordpress.com/ – a gorgeous design blog filled with simply good eye-candy.
2. http://thefieldmouse.wordpress.com/ — an eco-friendly blog that showcases everything from raising awareness to fun products.
3. http://vsbjorge.wordpress.com/ — an artist of all sorts.
4. http://binabrakken.wordpress.com/ — lovely photography and personal notes on life.
5. http://logna.wordpress.com/ – a great friend & writer with a dry sense of humor.
take a look and enjoy!
and thanks again for thinking of me! :)
yes. it’s true.
