5 friday favorites.
January 13, 2012
today, my mind is focused on my mornings.
probably because it’s the morning right now as i’m writing this . . .
here are the 5 friday favorites that are a part of my regular morning routine.
1. early mornings — since i’ve become the housewife, i promised myself i wouldn’t sleep in late on weekdays. mainly because i feel as though sleeping in is a waste of your day! and i’d like to think i’m more of a morning person anyway, even though my husband might claim otherwise. but after he leaves for work around 7am, and before the hustle and bustle of the rest of the world begins, i always look forward to taking those quiet, early morning hours to myself. it’s a great way to collect your thoughts & start your day on the right foot. below is an iphone photo of an early morning flight back to nashville for school.
2. a cup o’ jo — of course the start of your day isn’t complete unless you have a good, freshly brewed cup of coffee in your hands. but i’d also like to mention the blog, too. a cup of jo is a beautiful compilation of all things pretty. “fashion, design, photography, bikes & the people i love.” hop on over and check it out.
3. the today show — what can i say, i love matt lauer. i love starting the mornings off with the today show. it all started in college when my lovely roomie and i would get up, brew a pot of coffee and turn the tube to the nbc network, listening and watching as we ate our hot oatmeal or got ready for our classes. happy 60th today show!
4. writing — whether it be writing a public blog post or privately in my personal journal, i find myself writing a lot in the mornings. i suppose it’s my way of clearing my mind before the day begins. thoughts, to-do-lists and prayers ink–or type–their way into existence.
5. exercising — now that i have the freedom to organize my own schedule, i LOVE exercising in the morning. whether it be going for a run or taking ranger out for a walk throughout the neighborhood. i prefer being outside rather than stuck to the confines of a gym. the only debbie downer about this is when it gets too cold outside. it’s not only good for you to get the blood pumping early in the day, but i think it’s best in the mornings because you are more likely to eat well, have more energy & feel good for the rest of the day.
after reading through these i see a reccurring theme.
the quiet & peaceful time i find in the mornings before the world and everyone else gets going.
i’d like to think it has something to do with the divine experience and beauty of a sunrise.
now here’s a question for you:
what’s your favorite part of the day and why?

I am just a night-owl. I am trying to reshift myself a little and do yoga for 20 minutes before starting my day and to awake slowly. Breathing in the morning is good for you!

Mornings are definitely my favorite part of the day too. It’s my time to sip coffee and plan the day. It’s quiet. I think, too, it has something to do with how the sun brightens up the inside of the house in the morning. Especially the dining room where I sip that coffee. Sounds kind of sappy doesn’t it. But it’s true and I love the feeling of a sunrise.
This is a great post :)
